If you or someone you love has IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) or has stomach trouble, you have got to check out this book! The Low-FODMAP Diet can be a beneficial diet for those who have difficulties with digestion. This book is an excellent start
Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
The book focuses on IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome). It sheds light on the potential causes and treatment options. Peter Gibson and Sue Shepherd explain digestion thoroughly. They also explain where within our intricate digestive system, troubles can arise. The book distinguishes between the different major digestive issues and describes how they differ. That’s what I really liked about this book. It gives insight into why one’s stomach gets upset and how that turns into physical discomfort. As someone who has suffered from digestive issues for many years, these parts of the book helped me better understand my body and brought me comfort. I know the disheartening feeling of finding yourself once again in pain with an upset stomach and no idea why. The book goes into detail about the foods that can be a problem and why they can cause a problem for your IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome).
Elimination Diet
The book walks you through how to start an elimination diet. This is where you cut out all foods that are potential triggers and then slowly reintroduce them. You’d want to keep a log of how you’re feeling along the way. As soon as you have symptoms again, you can isolate and identify which foods or food groups are your problem areas right now. To make this no FODMAPs Diet easier on you, they have also included many recipes. There is also general advice on topics like travel, eating in restaurants, and low FODMAP diets for kids. This Elimination Diet is not easy at first but can hold such powerful healing potential for your gut and health and help you genuinely get answers on what foods cause trouble for you.
